The only woman associated with the very manly first-generation abstract-expressionists, Lee Krasner also had the dubious distinction of being Jackson Pollock's wife.

But her paintings, which are currently touring national museums across the U.S., speak for themselves as strong works in their own right.

While Krasner and Pollock each learned from the other's work, Krasner had a wide range of other influences. She studied with Hans Hofmann, and was greatly influenced by the work of Picasso, de Kooning and Matisse. |
