Into the over-the-top spectacle that is Times Square in New York City, British artist Martin Creed has inserted his own millennial statement. High above the sidewalk on famous 42nd Street looms his soothing, and misspelled, message:
"EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT."

If the glaring red neon of the letters seems to contradict the calm confidence of the statement itself, that's all the more reason this project,
sponsored by the Public Art Fund, has found the perfect home. |

Times Square and 42nd Street, where the Disney Store, adult peep shows, the Port Authority Bus Terminal and The Lion King all coexist, is one of the most self-contradictory public spaces on earth. |
