Recently, visitors and commuters in New York were treated to an unusual
oasis within the recently renovated Grand Central Station. Several
large-scale installations comprised solely of beads by young artist Liza Lou shimmered and
glittered in the light of Vanderbilt Hall, capturing the attention of anyone who walked by.

The 600 square foot Back Yard was the centerpiece of the exhibition, featuring Lou's own version of the typical American lawn, with a picnic table, barbecue grill, and more; each item completely covered in millions of small glass beads. |

In her short career, Liza Lou has painstakingly covered countless objects in beads. Kitchen, an installation that covered an entire kitchen in beads, took her five years to complete. |
