Korean-American photographer Nikki S. Lee infiltrates different ethnic and
cultural groups, becomes friendly with them, and enlists their assistance to
help her look like them.

|
In photographs with titles like The Yuppie
Project, The Lesbian Project and The Seniors Project, she seamlessly
blends in with widely varying subcultures and documents her successful
infiltration with snapshot-style photographs.

Having been in the U.S. only 6 years, Lee is making photographs that frankly
address the debate over assimilation--how quickly and to what extent should
immigrants to the U.S. adopt "American" customs, styles and language? At the
same time that Lee's work sparks discussion about controversial issues, it
also entertains viewers by letting them watch her virtuoso acts of cultural
camouflage.
