More information on the Gallery:
The Gallery Saint Georges was created in 1959. It is one of the oldest painting galleries in Lyon, France
Denise Mermillon has been managing the gallery since March 1960. She learned about paintings in her very early age thanks to her father, who was a
respected art critic and who enabled her to discover the various trends of painting at the beginning of the century. She also met many then famous painters,
iuncluding Bonnard and Marquet.
Since 1960 the Gallery Saint Georges has widely contributed to promote painters from the so-called Lyonnaise school, especially
Cottavoz, Truphemus, Fusaro, Lachieze Rey, Marcel Saint Jean ... From 1960 to 1980 the gallery organized yearly exhibitions with these painters and still today has
paintings from them available at the gallery. Most of them have now acquired an international reputation and their work is admired by many collectors in France,
United States and Japan.
All along those years the Gallery Saint Georges remained loyal to the tradition of the Lyonnaise school. Today painters like Jacques Flacher,
Eric Gouttard, Roger Bernard and also Alain Demond or Evelyne Chevalier belong to this school.
The gallery's goal remains to promote young talents and give them the chance to share their work in Lyon but also outside.
Overall the Gallery Saint Georges has been very successful in gathering very promising artists and loyal collectors.
