Introducing this week's new PaintingsDIRECT.com artists.
  Gayle Rovnick
Gayle Rovnick’s detailed watercolor still-lifes reflect the artist’s careful observation and appreciation for color and light. Colorful tulips, clear glass vases, strawberries and kiwis consistently capture Rovnick’s attention. “Recently I have concentrated on still-life, juxtaposing beautiful living things with well-designed man-made objects.” Rovnick studied at the American Academy of Art and has received numerous awards for her skill in watercolor. She lives and works in Illinois.

  Theo Kisch
Theo Kisch paints with a message. "My work is about story-telling and hope.” Each piece recounts a narrative about faith, compassion or spirit, questioning the viewer’s sense of self and inspiration. I believe every moment, every event, no matter how painful or terrible, is a gift, a perfect moment, an opportunity to learn and grow." Kisch studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and at the Chicago Institute of Art. He exhibits his work primarily in Manhattan and is in the permanent collection of ABC Television Studios.

  Margaret Lynch Nakache
Margaret Nakache’s portfolio consists of bright, floral still-lifes and lush landscapes that are soft to the eye. The artist’s versatile style allows her to create surrealist, realist and impressionist paintings. Nakache studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and at the Ecole de Beaux-Arts in Paris and has exhibited her work throughout Massachusetts. Her work belongs to several public collections, including Georgetown University Hospital and the Lebanese Embassy.

  Annie Wandell
Annie Wandell captures the “sights, smells and tastes” of small fishing towns in Northern Maine and Rhode Island. Late fall evenings and dockside sunsets signify the rippling tide of a day’s end. Wandell studied at the College of William and Mary and has exhibited her work in New York and Connecticut, including several shows at the Slater Museum.

  Jane McCabe
Jane McCabe’s wry sense of humor translates directly through her entertaining, narrative paintings on canvas. “Humor is an important element in my work, but it is usually understated.” Flying chickens and bathing cats add a twist of wit to her portfolio that also includes delicate watercolors of flowers and fruit. McCabe received her training at the San Francisco Art Institute and has exhibited her work throughout the United States.

  Sarah Yuster
Sarah Yuster brings mystique to ordinary scenes of the places she knows best, assuring us that there is no place like home. A vacant Elk’s Club Lodge, an empty school yard and a glowing gasoline station are cross-sections of home-town life that reveal the artist’s “affection for an inherent sense of belonging.” Yuster received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts. Her work belongs to several collections, including St. Vincent’s Medical Center, the New York Road Runner’s Club and the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution.
