Introducing this week's new PaintingsDIRECT.com artists.
  Marceline Saphian
Marceline Saphian's graphic depictions of fruit, flowers and the rising sun are celebrations of color and line. Her method of abstracting space refreshes our vision of everyday life. "Nature is used as a springboard towards a personal response to what I observe." Saphian studied at the Southeast Missouri State College, and her work belongs to the collections of Price Waterhouse and Citicorp.

  Carol Orr
Beautiful women in fantastic landscapes dominate the portfolio of Carole Orr. Sensual, dark and fair-haired ladies can be seen collecting shells on the shore, sipping wine at a table and riding horseback in the wind. Orr studied at the Glassell School of Art, and has exhibited her work throughout Texas and New Mexico.

  Faith Lund
Faith Lund's impressions of the French countryside and 19th-century Americana are illusions of times past. European gardens, American architecture and British doorways evoke daydreams of romance and chivalry. Lund studied at the University of Wisconsin, and has received numerous awards for her work.

  Timothy Hurley
Timothy Hurley's labor-intensive oil works are complex puzzles with a folk sensibility, often exploring theories of time and chance. Inspired by carnivals and amusement parks, these works are cheerfully hued and unusually mysterious. Hurley studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, and has exhibited his work at the Portland Art Museum, the National Museum of American Art, the National Academy of Design and the Illinois State Museum.
