Interview with Ann Leibowitz

Last week PaintingsDirect.com drove up to the Catskill mountains of upstate New York to talk to painter Ann Leibowitz - October's Painter of the Month - about her work, career and current projects.
In this interview you can learn more about Ann Leibowitz's life, and learn what it is like to view the world through the eyes of an artist.

  Barbara Coleman
Barbara Coleman joins PaintingsDirect.com with a subtle portfolio of richly colored abstract paintings. Nature's changing seasons, the silent glow of moonlight, and the boldness of glory inspire the flat fields of color that stretch across each canvas. The artist's work is owned by the Aldrich Museum in Connecticut and has been exhibited at several New York galleries.

  Karen H. Salup
Karen H. Salup's dynamic oils on canvas reveal the artist's interest in movement and space. She uses a wide palette of vibrant hues and a short fast brushstroke to turn each canvas into a bold expression of color. Karen Salup was trained at the School of Visual Arts and at the Brooklyn Museum. She has had three solo New York exhibitions and has received an award from the Nassau County Fine Arts Museum.

  Stepan Lazarev
Stepan Lazarev's "philosophical" realistic still-lifes are both intellectual and charming. Each object in his compositions has a meaning and each meaning has a place in history. Stepan Lazarev studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and was commissioned by the town of Vitrolles, France for a stone memorial to the soldiers of the Algerian War.
