Welcome to Volume 2, #27 of True Colors, where PaintingsDIRECT.com brings you the latest art news and information. We also introduce you to several new PaintingsDIRECT.com artists and update you on additions to the collections of some of our existing artists.

Words will never hold as much meaning as a treasured object or an unforgettable experience. Each artist in July's exhibition finds universal appeal in the intimate spaces of their personal histories.
Japanese-American Photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto turns his lens on old movie palaces and drive-ins in The Art of the Screen.
What's new at the Museum of Modern Art? This time, it's ethics.
All this and more in this week's True Colors. We hope you enjoy it! Please let us know if there is other information you might like to see on our site by contacting Majordomo@PaintingsDIRECT.com with comments or questions.

Introducing this week's new PaintingsDIRECT.com artists.
  Gregory Frux
Good old Brooklyn is the borough of choice for local artist Gregory Frux, who in the past few years has made his way through the streets painting St. Augustine's Church, the Botanic Gardens and antique brownstones. Frux studied at the National Academy of Design and the Art Student's League, and received his MFA from Brooklyn College. He has exhibited his work throughout New York.

  Bill Artim
The long, open roads of America inspire Bill Artim's scenes of "familiar side streets," created from the perspective of those accustomed to a view from "the wheel." "My images represent rest stops of a daily lineage." Beautiful country homes, farms and highways stimulate the artist's imagination. Artim received his BFA from Syracuse University and has exhibited his work throughout New York.

  Garry Nichols
Garry Nichols' oil paintings reflect memories of his childhood. A native of Tasmania, the artist's subjects range from beautifully colored vegetation to surveys of the Australian landscape. Still-lifes feature images of indigenous objects. Nichols studied at the National Art School in Sydney and the Skowhegan School of Art, and his work is part of several public collections including the National Gallery of Victoria, the Burnie Museum, and the Samuel P. Harn Museum of the University of Florida.

  Lisa Sandler
Lisa Sandler's works on paper combine painting and design. The artist creates colorful patterns using gouache and hand-carved rubber stamps. "These paintings fall somewhere in between craft and textile design. I work a lot with pleasing colors and a repetitive symmetry." Sandler studied at the San Francisco Art Institute, Otis College and UCLA, and has exhibited her work throughout the West Coast and in New York.
