Introducing this week's new PaintingsDIRECT.com artists.
  Jeanette Staley
Jeanette Staley combines photographs, paper and painted imagery to discuss cultural problems and share her observations of a society ruled by stratified class. "This work began as a journey of personal reconciliation and peace." Classic text, mythological images and symbolic forms are layered to create beautifully sensitive compositions. Staley is a self-taught artist who has had several solo exhibitions on the East Coast.

  Lee Haber
Lee Haber's softly lit still-lifes and pastoral landscapes are all painted en plein air. This allows him "the combined experiences of working outdoors in nature and experiencing the wonderful subtleties of light and shadow of each particular scene." Haber received his BFA from the Pratt Institute, and has several solo exhibitions in Manhattan.

  Sally Friedman
Sally Friedman's brightly colored still-lifes comment on the significance of the object in everyday life. Her rich palette highlights the importance of our daily surroundings and her repetition of pattern in wallpaper and madras cloths communicates her belief that "art often imitates life." Friedman was born and currently resides in New York City. She studied at the Brooklyn Museum, Oxford University and at the Art Student's League of New York.

  David Bradford
David Bradford's subjects vary from seascape to still-life. The Golden Gate Bridge and Nantucket Harbor subtly capture the artist's view of these coastal landmarks. Compositions of meat grinders, flowers and seashells hark back to the artist's days as a decorative painter. Bradford studied at Skidmore College and has exhibited his work in Manhattan.

  Lorna Ritz
PaintingsDIRECT.com presents Lorna Ritz, a painter currently residing in northern Massachusetts. Ritz's masterful use of color and keen observation of natural light are clearly revealed in her diverse portfolio of landscapes and colorful impressions of light. Her landscapes present the inevitable changes of nature in their most vibrant forms. Ritz studied at the Cranbrook Academy of Art, and has exhibited prolifically throughout Massachusetts.FONT>
