Introducing this week's PaintingsDIRECT.com artists.
  Greg Geffner
Photographer Greg Geffner has been capturing the image of lightning striking for over ten years. The artist's titles document the dates and time of each strike, adding a precarious edge to images so inherently dependent on chance. In each image, spears of light charge through the Manhattan skyline and down to the Empire State Building, the United Nations and the Queensboro Bridge. Geffner studied at the University of Buffalo, and has exhibited his work prolifically throughout New York.

  James Sasso
James Sasso's playful, abstract oil works on canvas are patchworks of candy color. The lines and images in his work are composed using an immediate "stream of consciousness" technique; every stroke is a reaction to the previous one. The artist's pop style incorporates forms from his home environment. Sasso is a self-taught artist, studying for a short period at the Dallas Art Institute, who has been showing in his own gallery since 1992.

  Jaqueline Chesley
Quick strokes of soft tones are what Jaqueline Chesley uses to compose her Venice canal and bridge scenes, and vast variety of European landscapes. The artist's formal concerns dominate each scene, apparent in the rich hues and lyrical composition of each work. Chesley studied at the Vermont Studio School, and has shown her work prolifically throughout the East Coast.
