Introducing this week's PaintingsDIRECT.com artists.
  Irina Broydo
Irina Broydo’s narrative oil paintings are distinctive in their mystical compositions of people enjoying life while dancing at a ball, chatting at a café or walking through the park. The artist’s expressionist style is reminiscent of painters like Marc Chagall, Edward Munch and James Ensor. Broydo studied at the Academy of Fine Art in Rome, and received her MFA from the Repin University of Art in Russia.

  Francois Mayemba
The delicate miniature works of African artist Francois Mayemba magically capture the space and light of his country. These works reflect the conflicts presently occurring in the Republic of Congo, where natives are being forced to flee from their homes to seek peace. The artist has beautifully portrayed scenes of daily life, such as fishermen earning a living, people sitting on the docks at sunset, and socializing in these small-scale paintings on paper.

  Eugene Abeshaus
Israeli artist Eugene Abeshaus gleans his imagery from biblical tales, and the folklore of his ancestors. His work utlizes bright color, gold leaf and witty personification to create a satirical commentary. Abeshaus is also known as the founder of the Aleph group, a group of progressive artists in the 1970s, and has exhibited his work in museums around the world, including the Knesset and the Jewish Museum in New York.

  Frank Caracciolo
Frank Caracciolo’s abstract oils on canvas result from an organic evolution. Each stroke or gesture is a reaction to the previous mark. Layers and drips of muted color overlap and intertwine to consciously mimic nature. "I am very drawn to aged surfaces and weathered textures that express and seem to capture the passing of time." Frank Caracciolo studied at the School of Visual Arts and has had several solo exhibitions in New York City. His work belongs to corporate collections such as Lexis-Nexis, France Telecom and European Investors.

  Roslyn Rose
Roslyn Rose’s body of still-life and landscape images were created using photo transfer, a technique that involves photography and traditional media, such as pastel, watercolor and pencil. Rose takes her images from her travels through the western U.S. and Europe. She has had solo shows at two state museums and has shown in several New York galleries.
