Introducing this week's PaintingsDIRECT.com artists.
  Pamella Allen
Pamella Allen's newest series of figurative paintings are narratives that employ her trademark biomorphic abstractions to tell stories. The work ranges from complex triptychs to minimalist works on paper. The artist's experienced hand is able to evoke innuendoes of the body with just a few stains or lines. Allen was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and studied at the Art Student's League in New York and La Base, a residency in France.

  Jeanne Willette
The layered compositions in Jeanne Willette's work on paper are created from a combination of printmaking and painting techniques. "I am interested in the juxtaposition of ideas, forms, colors and materials that perform to show the complexity of life; the 'layers' that compose all of our personalities and create a oneness of philosophy." Willette studied at the Slade School of Art in England and has exhibited her work in Florida, North Carolina and Missouri.

  Holly Hauser
Holly Hauser's mixed media works on wood explore the relationship between the artist and her subject. "These drawings and paintings are like meditations--journal entries cultivating the tools of calm concentration, in which there is little separation between the object, the seeing, and the drawing." Her subjects range from people in daily life to everyday objects. Hauser studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts.

  Chris Chambers
Chris Chambers translates his experiences within the interaction of objects and animals in his work. Serious subjects such as the cycles of life, the pursuit of happiness, and the causes of war are made more palatable in his colorful compositions of child-like simplicity. Chris Chambers was born in New York City and studied at The Cooper Union and the Art Student's League.

  Katja Guggenheim
Katja Guggenheim paints scenes from everyday life in a pale palette, often employing a keen sense of humor and a feminist edge to talk about the sometimes awkward dynamics of relationships. The artist also creates bold, colorful still lifes. Guggenheim has exhibited her work in New York, Argentina, Switzerland, Belgium and Germany.
