Introducing this week's PaintingsDIRECT.com artists.
  Ann Leibowitz
Biology-inspired painter Ann Leibowitz conveys the energy of the living things around her. Organic forms in dark greens and purples are reminiscent of the reflective ocean and the deep jungle. "I think that these organic images come naturally to me. They are visions that have slowly evolved throughout my experience as an artist and as a human being." Leibowitz studied at New York University and the Parsons School of Design, and her works have been exhibited in upstate New York.

  Karen Rose
Florida painter Karen Rose creates work in the dynamic and fantastical style of the Surrealists. Dramatic lighting and unique juxtapositions reveal a unique playfulness and fresh vision. "In an age where the only uncharted frontiers lie within our minds, I attempt to reach the viewer on a cerebral level by creating a space where one's spiritual self is free to roam and explore." Rose studied at Hunter College and at the New York School of Interior Design.

  Mitchell Rozenzweig
Abstract painter Mitchell Rosenzweig translates harmonious and contrasting color schemes observed in nature through an artistic vocabulary of form. Spring landscapes of blossoming apple trees and summers in Morocco are composed of areas of heavy impasto and "reinforce the non-representational qualities" in his work. Rosenzweig studied at Pennsylvania State University, and exhibits his work throughout the East Coast.

  Evelyne Chevalier
French painter Evelyne Chevalier paints in the tradition of the Impressionists. Cafes, shore-side homes and playful narratives are created from quick, gestural brushstrokes and a soft palette in homage to the late nineteenth century masters. A critic describes that Chevalier's paintings "find roots in the richness of nature and the human world, in the colors full of sun as well as in perfumes and tastes." Chevalier studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in France and has won several awards for her achievements in the arts.

  Beth Kantor
Although Beth Kantor began her painting career depicting a wide variety of subject matter, her most recent bodies of work focus on memories. In these works, Kantor portrays recollections of a clear, winter landscape and the Colorado sky. Beth Kantor studied art history and painting at Princeton University and has had several solo exhibitions in New Jersey..
