Introducing this week's PaintingsDIRECT.com artists.
  Marine
Marine adds a new series of landscapes to her emergent portfolio of colorful collages and oil paintings. Known for her portrayal of images from Vietnam, and a series that focuses on the penguin, Marine is interested in relationships. “Painting and drawing are a way for me to give a very personal touch to what I see, something that simple photography could not achieve.” Marine studied at the Versailles Landscaping School and at the Martenot School.

  Colin Pringle
California artist Colin Pringle has dedicated his life as a visual artist, reflecting the beauty in all things--from nature scenes to the human figure, “Art is the sum total of accumulated knowledge of man as expressed in any audio, visual, or physical form.” Roses, Native Americans and the rolling Pacific Ocean are just a few of the artist’s subjects. Pringle studied at several schools throughout California and Michigan, and also at the University of Heidelberg in Germany.

  Frank Bruno
Frank Bruno’s new works on PaintingsDIRECT interpret familiar characters from Greek and Roman mythology. Strong figures like Judith, Mercury, and Neptune are rendered in brilliant hues and with a scrupulous technique. "Constantly giving my viewers a thought-provoking visual with my abstract figural work is foremost my mission." Bruno studied at the Pratt Institute and the York Academy of Art. He has exhibited his work throughout New York and Pennsylvania.

  Gaby Kubler
French painter Gaby Kubler believes that the artistic elements of color and form can communicate human emotions. The artist employs emphatic brushstrokes and a minimal palette of grays, reds and blacks to convey the varying intensities of music--from "jubilation" to "destruction". "Sometimes the world of the living is veiled; I bring it to light." Kubler studied at the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg, and has exhibited her work throughout France.

  Alain Saverot
Alain Saverot's paintings combine large, gestural areas of color, and dark outlines of female figures, which reflect his long-standing interest in Asian and African culture. "I grow richer with any sources from the West, East, North and South, from the past or present …prehistoric art fascinates me." Saverot has had solo exhibitions in Paris, London and Tunisia, and currently lives and works in France.

  Curt Parker
Curt Parker paints close-ups of jungle creatures to give viewers an unusual perspective of wildlife. Whitetail deer in motion and Siberian tigers defending their territory add a documentary edge to his portfolio. He hopes to place the viewer in the, “…encounters that our stone-age ancestors faced, the fear of which we still carry around in our subconscious mind.” Curt Parker has had several solo shows in Missouri and has had many outdoor shows, including one at the St. Louis Zoo.
