"My paintings use images that are invented yet recognizable. I want the viewer to slip into a restful space for quiet and contemplation, but one that delights the eyes and energizes the spirit.
I try to create these sensations by choosing colors and color combinations that stimulate me to feel very positive. Looking at the changing blues of the sea and sky at the horizon calms me, so I often include that essential element in my landscapes. Flowers provide a never-ending source of color and texture and shape that give me visual pleasure.
The specific arrangement of shapes on the canvas is designed to direct the viewer on an excursion into the painting. Spaces in my paintings provide a private moment to reflect inward, but on an upbeat note. I want you to experience a very optimistic world."
