"My Goal is not to depict representational landscapes, but to evoke the intangibles intrinsic to all subjects. There may be qualities such as mystery, spirituality or simply beauty. These dimensions occur while interacting with my subject. When I am able to successfully capture this essence and combine it with a formally sound piece, then I have accomplished my goal for the work."

"I gain knowledge of my subjects by the experiences of drawing and photographing on site. I then create paintings by applying many thin layers of oil paint and glaze medium using canvas or panels as the support.

I feel a spiritual connection to nature and so I study landscape and natural objects for my artistic inspiration. By attempting to make sense of nature, I am attempting to gain knowledge of life."
