"The work shown here reflects the different stages of my artwork. My training at the Art Student's League influences the three oil paintings shown. My pastel work is my attempt to go beyond my training with different medium and explore different genres. I also wanted to expand my sense of color, as the pallet used in my oil paintings was limited in color. This led me to experiment with yet another medium - acrylics.

The acrylic paintings seen here are influenced by my present employment. Like most artists, I work a 9 to 5 job to pay the bills. Unlike some, I am fortunate to work at one of the greatest museums in the world, The Metropolitan Museum of Art. This place has inspired me a lot.

Not only do the works of arts in the museum's collection offer inspiration but the activities that take place there do also. I become inspired while working nighttime events as a greeter. The artificial lighting provides dramatic effects. Besides the dramatic effects, the artifical lights make the colors warmand atmospheric. It adds enchantment to the setting that is not evident during daylight hours. Usually, the subjects of my compositions are underlit. Even though my compositons show people doing ordinary things, I tried to capture the magic of the moment. The activities depicted in these paintings are also used to create flow and direct the viewer back to the subject. The festivities at the Met have provided me with a rich sort of subject matter and I hope it will continue in the future.

No matter what medium I work in, movement is an important part of my compositions. Movement is necessary in order to capture the viewers' interest and to give his eyes a path to follow into the painting."
