Studied with Helen Van Wyk, Charles Movalli, Judi Betts, T.M. Nicholas, Charles Reid, Frank Webb, Don Stone, Charles Sovek, Don Andrews and Ferdinand Petrie.



"My goal as a painter is to cause the viewer to look at his or her everyday world in a new way because of how I have painted it.

As a plein air painter, I interpret nature in immediate, sensory terms. I want the viewer to see the glorious colors, the diversity of shapes, the subtleties of light...to hear the sounds...the smell the air...to feel the temperature...in the in effect, to share the mood I felt during an inspiring experience.

Throughout my career I have done considerable research on the lines, brushstrokes and color combinations that provoke certain feelings. Thus, as I settle in to begin painting, I look for the lines, brushstrokes and color combinations in the landscape before me that will convey the mood that I am feeling...and they appear.

People have commented that they sense a spiritual content in my work. I think that comes from working outdoors so much, connecting to nature and capturing the feeling of the day which the viewer then shares."
