"Inspiration is fleeting. The trick is to capture peripheral notions and freeze-frame them emotionally. I envision a painting in a flash, but not in its entirety. The images are not so much seen in my head, as felt. For example, I would not illustrate my summer vacation literally; rather I paint the experience of a time and place, be it imaginary or factual. Imagery is the structure for the metaphysical. The thought process weighs and modifies ideas and concepts to cull the genuine from the superficial.

Much of my work investigates dichotomies: good and evil, natural and synthetic, freedom and oppression, beauty and horror. Anticipation is another favorite theme. An unspecified occurrence is imminent; the outcome as yet unknown. Other works explore multiplicity, repetitive motifs reflecting the surfeit of information bombarding the millennial psyche. My subject matter is symbolic, often ironic, filled with metaphors and lyrical allegories."
