Artist's Exhibition in China a Success
Yonkers Herald Statesman
March 1, 1993

"Last November, a Yonkers artist collected 30 pieces of his work, assembled them for shipment to a gallery in China, and waited for the opening of his scheduled one-man show in Hangzhou, China. . . . Civale, who was born and raised in Rome, has had sixty one-man shows in his long career. His work has been shown in more than two hundred group shows in France, Italy, Switzerland, Japan and the United States. . . . Civale has waited almost a lifetime for this success."

-Maury Allen, Yonkers Herald Statesman

Biagio Civale: A Forty Year Retrospective
Journal of the Print World
Fall, 1990

"Though basically a figurative artist, his work has a primitive abstract sensibility to it. Almost melancholic, his bold images have a somber feeling reminiscent of Mexican paintings where figures become shapes and shapes become figures."

-Editor, Journal of the Print World

Artist Displays 1st Solo Exhibit in Yonkers
The Reporter Dispatch
August 9, 1988

"For Biago Civale, a Yonkers artist, finding inspiration for his creations is as easy as looking at what surrounds him. . . . Civales' materials and techniques include intaglios, dry point, etchings, woodcuts, serigraphs, temperas and oils. Among his favorite topics are musicians, animals, fishermen, buildings, and motherhood."
