"My theme is memory. I reach back into my life for subject matter. I try to portray the moments of my life, whether it be the New York cityscape of my childhood or the turmoil of today's stormy sea outside my studio window.

My style is realism, not trompe l'oeil. My paintings are interpretive, with a hint of the romantic. In all my work, I try to extract the essence of the subject matter and eliminate the extraneous. My goal is to offer the viewer an uncommon view of the commonplace: a house at the shore, a serendipitous collection of objects on a shelf, a flower in full blossom

My finished work is based on sketches and studies, filtered through my memory of past times, places, and events.

My hope is that my paintings will communicate with the viewers and evoke a personal response from within their own life experiences. Paintings that fail to communicate are just paint. If the artist's efforts create a thoughtful or emotional reaction, the painting is elevated to the level of art."
