"We definitely enjoy Alain Demond's cheerfulness and joy of painting.
There is a true passion in his work, the happiness of an artist, who shares
with us each variation of his talent and who is able to translate any feeling
from ecstasy to darkness.""
A. Vollerin, "Le Tout Lyon", France, April 12, 1996

"Few artists in Lyon today drive as much expectation as Alain Demond. He knows how to beautifully translate the climate
that surrounds our city when night comes. He composes misty images where the world seems to be fixed as if a flood or a sudden event
was going to happen. We think that the best of his carrier is still ahead of him and that he is only starting to produce the work that
will prolong the spirit of the Lyonnaise School of painting. Alain Demond knows that he will be successfull if he manages to renew this
spirit. This is why he takes the time to accomplish his work while being careful not to betray his soul."
A. Vollerin, "Le Tout Lyon", France, January 15th, 1998
"Alain Demond travels from the original gloom to the mastery of light.
His joy in living and painting wins us over. The skill is there, bearing along the wellbeing
of the artist who offers us each variation of histalent, which is capable of expressing every
possible feeling. He takes on crepuscular landscapes which reveal his demanding nature,
with its penchant, its vocation for introspection. There is nothing seductive, no place for
limpness, in this work. One identifies his manner immediatly and he knows perfectly how to do
an against-the -light illumination with a climate made up of toughness but also tenderness.
He obtains excellent results with dry pastels because besides being an artist, he draws very
well... And the best is yet to come : He has begun to produce the kind of work which will carry
on that of Carrand, Fusaro, Truphemus..."
(In Histoire des Arts Plastiques à Lyon au XXeme siècle by Alain Vollerin, 1998)
"Even if his paintings are inspired from reality, Alain Demond's work always keep a large touch of mystery, avoiding the time constraint.
Obviously his work invites us to realize that between the painting and us, there is an artist, with his heart, his enthusiasm, his doubts and his irresistible
desire to paint. Alain Demond knows how to play with the rigour of a drawing and the vagueness of a colour spot, the truthfulness of an attitude and the rough outline
of a movement."
A. Depraz, "Le Dauphine", France, July, 1994
"If sometimes Alain Demond outlines a character, it is maybe only to share his attachment to human beings. Most of the time, the painting takes over to show the beauty of simple
things. The colours reveal the maturity of the painter. Demond invites us for a trip... There, he lets us contemplate the shades of lights glimpsed in the cities and harbours he visited...
Demond is among those who matter, those who can intiate you to some form of spirituality or inner life."
B. Gouttenoire, Art Actuality Magazine, France, July-August, 1994
