"Mystery, oddball events, secret corners, unfoldings and the how and why intrigue me. My work ranges in size from small, intimate pastels to larger drawings. Most are portraits of a particular place or time of day where and when the shadows are deep, or the light intense or peculiar. Some are impressions of water in its varying forms and expressions of light and movement. All involve the sense of place more than the smaller details which quite often comprise it. I hope through the interplay of shadow and simplified form to evoke the mystery of a shape or place rather than merely replicate a scene. To recreate the scents that drift through, the feelings of moisture and light, the wonder or uniqueness of a place, is my ideal."
