"My work revolves around the human being, paying special attention to specific instances, such as individual portraits, or in its vital essence, as in The Couple Series. The latter turns into a ritual, for it is the starting point of the family, with all its profound implications. My work illustrates the human being in social groups, revealing different moods and states of mind alongside the endless struggles, both physical and spiritual.

I’ve always been fascinated by painting the human being, for its raising of the perpetual question, as Paul Gauguin put it, ‘where are we, where do we come from, and where are we going?’"
