"Overall, my process of painting could be compared to molding puzzle pieces and fitting them together. I employ some principles or techniques to create a tightly hewn product the viewer can be absorbed into.
Most important is balancing the shapes in the composition. Positive and negative spaces are codependent. Their relationship is brought into being by consideration of their relative sizes, the dynamic of the border line they share, light and dark contrast, and warm and cool colors.
Another area of concern in the narrative. As shapes evolve as set out above, they take on dimensionality. The abstract field is modeled into forms which become identifiable things. What they will be is often a surprise."
