"I love observing, selecting, interpreting and recording the endless variety of light, colors, textures and moods nature provides. The elements are constantly changing. The challenge is to pin down “the moment” before it passes. Through my paintings I hope to share “the moment” with others. "

Douglas Jamieson, November, 1999

"The spontaneous yet poetic moment hallmarks the paintings by Mr. Jamieson. Certainty of hand and sensitvity of vision along with a romantic palette have caused admirers from all walks of life to avidly collect his work. Doug has lectured extensively at several colleges and universities. His recently published book, Draw from your Head; A Step-by-Step System of Drawing the Human figure, for which he has done both writing and illustration, has been released by Watson-Guptil Publications. Educated at the Art Students League and the School of Visual Arts both in New York, Jamieson has exhibited at dozens of shows in galleries, art societies, colleges and museums on the East coast."
