"Art is an exciting place to be in. The fact that through art an artist can translate ideas or emotions never ceases to amaze me. My own creative development started early on with charcoal, watercolor and pastel on paper. Today, I use these materials in preparation for the works I create in oil on a canvas (or linen) support. These media provide me with both subtle and mysterious qualities for the end result, one-of-a-kind works of art.

How would I describe my work? My primary mode of representation is created through drawing, tone, and color. It is a form of representation, an impression, where I rely equally on accident both in the hues laid down as well as the way in which a brushstroke is applied. This keeps a fluidity and liveliness in my work.

Is there a style? With my application of brushwork, a new type of work is created by combining my artistic interests in Pop Art, Surrealism, or in the use of color, for example, Expressionism.

What is my subject matter? There are trademarks, logos, or packaging from the mass-production that enters domestic life via the household product. Their aesthetic, our aesthetic. Their visual banality enters our psych,e and therefore in art may be held to ransom, both co-opting the characters they provide, or at other times abstracting their design. The same can be said for all things graspable in the material sense, all of which can be summarized with my approach to the medium of oil paint.

What themes do I pursue? Look to art-historical genres like the still-life, landscape, or figure, and merge this with unreal images like those found in familiar product packaging--there I find my subjects and narratives. Opportunities for language exist via borrowing familiar brand imagery, after all 'all copyright is theft.'

Where next? To continue with the creative process, bringing art into this world that has the capacity to enrich our understanding of feelings, realized through painting. I believe it to be very exciting that via the Internet more choice and awareness has been generated for those who enjoy art and those who create it.

At home I'm surrounded by painting, prints, photography, books, pottery and the like. It gives me immense pleasure living with my own art."
