"My art is a journey...a way for me to visually explore my life...of my emotions, feelings, thoughts and ideas. My goal has been to inspire others on their journey.

'You go on a journey to reach a goal and find that your goal is the journey.'...Joseph Cambell

I want my paintings to have meanings beyond the obvious. They invite varying interpretations and are filled with a cache of things to discover. I work in series in a realistic style. Each series, in retrospect, reflects my life at the time.

Many of the paintings explore an object in a surround. The surround in my recent work is painted freely, seemingly without form - amorphous, skylike. The objects are rendered realistically - concrete representation juxtaposed against subjective abstract form. This has led some curators to call my work Surreal.

A viewer's eye is usually drawn toward the center of a visual field. I place the objects in diverse positions on the picture plane, challenging the viewers to examine the foreground elements in relation to the background. My work has been called photorealistic. Though I will sometimes use photographic reference, I usually work from life.

The objects are from many sources. The most recent work includes items from various cultures, none given any special weight. They establish an atmosphere of peace, harmony, unity and an acceptance of dissimilarities. They represent different times throughout history, recognizing the continuity of life."
