"I live and work in Paris. I was first interested in photography, and about
ten years ago I started to paint. At that time I used my photographic work
and incorporated it in my painting.
I like a lot of American artists from the Pop Art period. The work of
Warhol and Rauschenberg influenced my work. I also admire the photographic works
of Peter Beard. As with the work of these artists, one can find in my work a great freedom in the expression of gesture, media
mix, use of collage, graffiti and photography.
Large cities, particularly New York, inspire me. I often go to New York where I find the material that I will bring back to
France and use for my paintings. As for color, I don’t use any palette. The color mix is done directly on the material."
Alain Lumbroso, March 2000
Alain Lumbroso's work is an invitation to a journey at the heart of the city where photograph and
paint join to create a new imaginary dimension.
Cities and men are his privileged themes with all their paradoxes.
Observation is part of his life. It increases his knowledge of form and enables him to nourish
his inspiration.
"Writing is not describing,
Painting is not depicting,
The semblance is a trompe l’oeil"
George Braque
