"Dorothy Masom is a nationally known artist and pioneer in the revival of encaustic painting. She has had hundreds of solo shows and exhibitions in museums, galleries, churches, and universities throughout the world.
’When I went for my Masters, I wanted to find something that was more archival and of a professional quality. At the time I was primarily using oil colors, but I was never satisfied with the color. Encaustic colors dry and fuse so quickly, the color stays true. I’ve done many different types of painting with encaustic, including portraiture and landscape, which is my favorite. Very detailed work is possible with encaustic.
I feel that it’s time for an encaustic revival. I think it’s the painting of the future because it will last forever if done properly.’"
