"My recent work is a derivation of environmental elements and paint qualities. I integrate seemingly ordinary remnants of industrial society within the tactility of the painting's surface or re-configured them to hang as artistic entities. My art explores the latent possibility of assemblage as various textures and nuances fuse together like a condensation of matter. The work reaffirms the process of construction and creativity. While that process may be laborious and at times crude, it invites touch as much as sight. Within the layers of pigment and detritus lay histories of change based on outside influences as much as aesthetic decisions. I also seek to blur the conventional distractions between painting and sculpture. Subsequently, wood and metal are favored for their inherent physicality and reflection of age.

Refuse often serves as telltale sign of past lifestyles and values. The interest in LP records partly stems from their increasing obsolescence and my preference for commonplace materials. The name "Mojo," derived from blues or blues influenced rock n'roll, reflects my youth and interest in the music. While the imagery does not directly reflect the music, the colors intend to convey the intensity and immediacy of pop culture. The records are suitable for surface manipulation but also act as interchangeable components on the wall. While re-investing refuse with new meaning, I seek to tap the inner sensibility and critical intelligence of the viewer."
