"My work reflects both my Japanese past and the frenetic pace of my daily life in New York City. I associate natural objects and organic shapes with Oriental culture, and geometric forms (bricks, skyscrapers) with images of the American life and I like to combine the two. I merge two or more materials - plastics or metals and natural objects (dried leaves, linen twine for example). Or I combine Western and Oriental papers, often using intaglio with the Chine Colle technique.

In my art as in my life, I find myself increasingly looking for ways to further accentuate the oneness underlying the material elements I have come to favor in my work. "
