"Whether my work is figurative, nonobjective, or abstract, I do not like to create images that can be read only one way. I avoid the obvious, trying to create surprise in a subtler way, keeping the interpretation open, involving the viewer in the process. In my nonobjective works I try to create images that look familiar without having a name attached to them, or avoid the definable altogether in order to enhance the mystery, which I think is an essential ingredient in art.

I call some of my works mindscapes, and they could be defined as essays written in an imaginary language. They appear sometimes as fossil impressions of an alternate reality, the creative process becoming an act of spiritual archeology through the endless layers of memory."
