Born in Lyon, France

Graduated from the Arts Plastiques, Paris, France

Art has always played a major role in her family. Her father was an excellent violinist, and all of her family, including her mother, native of Armenia, has a passion for art. Martine, first attracted by music and dance, eventually chose painting.
Her meeting in 1983 with Pierre Jacquemon, a French painter who lives in New York as well as Lyon, was very influential. She realized that painting was her vocation.

"I feel a strong bond with painting. It is a love object, a fervor towards the 'Other.' But this bond is not a fusion. There is a certain distance. Painting channels all my imagination and imagery and integrates them into the social communication routes of art.

I am always apprehensive and satisfied at the same time about the final touch of my painting. I have doubts. Is the painting finished? Have I work until exhaustion? Have I said everything?

I feel bad when I am not painting. Something important and vital is missing.

I am mute on most of my art. Writing on what I paint seems totally vain. The enigmatic feature of creation is missing. Speaking does not reveal the creation enigma. It hides it."
