"The focus of my work is my son Jimmy, who is mentally handicapped. I am always amazed at his interaction with family, friends, and people in general. I have watched him grow and mature into a giving, sensitive, vulnerable, but happy human being. Through Jimmy, I have met and come to know many of his developmentally disabled companions well. The need to capture these individuals, whether on film, canvas, paper, or other materials, is an inspiration for me. I use my work as a vehicle to communicate my feelings of joy, sadness, and hope--about Jimmy and these wonderful people--to the world."
