"I am a printmaker. I like the craft behind this art; I like the fact that there is a structure to the process; I like the crispness of my shapes, my lines. Sometimes, I use simple images that are rather flat, but I enjoy the challenge of creating rhythms, textures, and movement that engages the eye. My work is constantly changing, as I interact with other printmakers. I have found great generosity in this community of artists. I constantly explore the boundaries between realism and abstractions, printing on different textured papers, trying to simplify the arduous process of multiple color printing without sacrificing my artistic goals: beauty and harmony with a boldness that draws the viewer in. One of the techniques I have been using is printing a ghost plate that I then continue to work with, producing a subtle and mysterious composition.
My favorite time in the studio is the moment when the paper is peeled back from the plate, and I find out what I have done. One of the wonders of this process is that even when I think I know what to expect, my art surprises me."
