"The mood of a place can be conveyed with art in a way that photographs miss. Color is heightened, light is altered, objects are made more or less important…the hand of the artist is there. I respond to places by making them a part of my art, my collected memory, and work in series, doing many images along the same subject. I may draw, paint, do a monotype, do an etching…the subject determines the medium.

For example, Doorways reflects the neighborhood, they invite us to enter, to ponder what lies just inside. I chose to make these etchings intimate in scale and limited in palette, altering ink in a subtle way to reflect the subject. My Still Life images are interiors with the hidden presence of the people who inhabit the rooms. Cemeteries, as I see them, are places of quiet and solace, a reflection of the surrounding community and its culture, in many cases with great natural beauty. I have portrayed them full of light and color, using the fluid medium of monotypes, with added touches of pastel and paint."

Anne divides her working time between Casa Anna, her house in New Mexico and her studio in the Continental Gin Building in Texas. She is currently working in fused glass, making earrings and large flat images to hang in the light.
