Born in 1945 in St. Petersburg, FL, USA

1967, University of Missouri

"After more than four decades as an artist, sharing my vision of a migrating zebra, a polar bear in a whiteout or a Siberian tiger at sundown with people who love wild animals is precisely why I paint. Making a connection is very fulfilling and makes all the hard work worthwhile. In recent years, I have focused on elevating my art to a higher level, starting with solid research that helps produce better, more dramatic compositions, a more creative use of light, and more accurate representations of wildlife. This has meant putting in the studio time and doing the demanding work of painting, even on those days when I would rather be hiking or floating down a river. As I’ve matured as an artist, I have actually spent less time exhibiting as I would rather focus on painting for my collectors. Time is precious, and I have so many ideas that I want to bring to life on canvas.

I have also made a conscious effort to connect with zoos and conservations groups. For example, in recent years I renewed my relationship with the Wild Canid Survival and Research Center, started in the 1970s by the late zoologist Marlin Perkins and his wife Carol. The WCSRC is offering a print of my painting "Marlin's Mexican Grays" to its membership and their supporters in the public.

My life, however, is much more than just wildlife art. I have a wonderful wife of nearly 30 years and 3 beautiful, successful daughters. Finally, I want to heartily thank all the kind people over the years that have purchased my art. I hope you have no regrets and that your acquisitions have brought you great pleasure. "
