"I was born in the country and after ten years of studies around the world, I moved back. After I discovered engraving, I started to paint in an abstract style, focusing on material, color and the pure pleasure of gesture. I went to Africa for one year and this stay has enriched my way of looking at things. When I returned, I went to the Beaux-Arts in Paris. However, the multiples trends and large formats that all the others were painting put my own approaches into question. I decided to work on drawing and avidly attended morphology classes. After I graduated, I went deeper into small works, drawing subjects from my environment. I realize that my experience of abstraction, along with the freedom it entails, can be found in my figurative painting.

I like Flemish painters such as Vermeer, Rembrandt and realist painters such as Courbet or Manet. I also like Bonnard for his light and sensitivity as well as his subjects from everyday life. Andrew Wyeth and Edward Hopper also had a strong influence on my work.
I paint models from life in my studio. Landscapes are painted from photographs that I take. I have always taken a lot of photographs, which eventually led me to figurative painting."
