"Art for me is the summation and actualization of my purpose in life as reflected against and about my life as nurse, wife, mother, teacher, and administrator. I see my world as the beautiful spaces between the defining lines and resulting blurred images of colors, values, and masses. Although I enjoy capturing a certain accuracy of representation, I feel that art must reflect something of the media and the artist who produced it. I have a need to see the directions of the brush strokes, the fingerprints, the sketch lines, the water marks, textures created by the palette knife or any other tool chosen to mold the paint into the final visual image.

I am a painter and a printmaker, and most of my canvases are a mix of media or technique. As I evolved from precise and tightly controlled watercolors and drawings into the printing of etchings and monotypes, my work in acrylic, oil, and pastel has evolved with greater looseness and textures.

I do not usually make statements about social causes, but reflections about the beauty in nature and places. My greatest fascination has always been in the study of the human face and figure. My main purpose for creating art is to help the viewer to reflect and to stretch his familiar world beyond reality and to participate in a visual feast for the soul."
