"All of my work, whatever the subject, indulges my fascination with light and dark. I love the mystery and intrigue of shadow and the drama of form.

I use a light umber wash and sizing to prepare my supports, onto which I do placement drawing to work out compositional issues. I then paint alla prima using rich colors, mysterious shadows, and the brilliant building of lights to convey my thoughts.

My material is gathered either from the live model, painted in a North Light Studio, or from plein-air sketches done on my trips to Italy and France."
