"I think of my art as being both a discipline and a pure pleasure. There is an underlying structure to every work of art, which demands my attention. It is a challenge to create something technically correct and pleasing at the same time. As Ed Whitney would say, “We are entertainers.” The act of creating to entertain is pure pleasure. The process of seeing color flow, partly planned, partly accidental, creates excitement beyond anything I anticipate. That is why watercolor is my first love. Other media added to watercolor offers infinite possibilities which gives me a connection to everything in the Universe. I also find I am enjoying more and more semiabstract painting using multi-media. I consider painting a life time study and am consistently looking for new ideas and ways to interpret color, value and shape."
