"As a world-renowned dancer, Theresita La Tana, now known by her real name, Theresita Rosano, was acclaimed by audiences--even royalty-- throughout the world. Her performance on NBC's first ever color television program, a rendition of Bizet's Carmen, won Theresita international praise for her fiery Spanish dance solo. She choreographed and danced her way into countless hearts with her renditions of the art of Flamenco. For more than twenty years, critics across the globe hailed her as 'the embodiment of the spirit of Spain.'
With the same fire and passion she brought to her remarkable career as a Spanish dancer, Theresita has begun a splendid new chapter in her life as an impressionist painter. Her wide-ranging list of subjects includes charming sun-drenched landscapes of Spanish and French countryside and villages, animals, seascapes, still lifes, and compelling interpretations of Spanish dancers. Her oil, watercolor, and pastel landscapes, still lifes, and portraits evoke comparisons to renowned Impressionist painter Childe Hassam. Her French landscapes are reminiscent of Vincent van Gogh.
'Dancing, like all forms of art, is a means of self-expression,' says Theresita. 'Now that my dancing days are over, I am fortunate to have found another means of artistic self-expression. As a dancer, I try to surprise and delight my audience. In my painting, I also do the unexpected. I do not know where the inspiration comes from, but somehow it works.'
Painting is a form of exercise that loses some appeal if it is not done in a special manner. Developing the mind is important, but developing a conscience is the most precious gift. 'Like a leaf, hiding under a tree, were it not for its fragrance, it would pass unnoticed' "
