| "I suppose I could give some
deep academic explanation as to why I paint, but the simple truth is
I do it because I enjoy the process of creating something that
wasn't there before. At different times in my life, painting has
been a loyal friend, a troublesome pest and a wretched viper that
has abandoned me completely.
I hate neat characterizations, but my style probably tends more
toward realism. I find myself inspired by the works of Vermeer,
Eakins, Remington and Rockwell. Although I rarely feel bold enough
to dip my toe into abstract waters, I greatly admire the work of
Picasso, Braque, Pollock, and those who do it with originality and
conviction."
