"I have been painting since the age of four. I studied at the Beaux-Arts where I stayed at the Atelier of the great painter Cremonini for five years. His teaching fascinated me. He opposed the academism while he kept, at the same time, a humanist vision of painting and a respect for the old masters. He told us about Vermeer for his modern sense of cropping and composition (Vermeer would sometimes spend one year to find the organization of a painting), about Pierro De La Francesca for the poetry of characters and their gesture, about Ucello for the construction of space and colors. According to him, the great American painters were Rothko, Pollock, Sam Francis and Edward Hopper.

From 1986 to 1995, [I painted] deserted and unusual places particularly evocative of the void. Since 1996, [my work] has been re-oriented towards the body theme with a humanist approach which combines the search of the self and introspection: behind the apparently insignificant images of characters in an aquatic environment, takes shape a meditative thought on the deep relationships between the body, childhood and absence."
