Born in 1956 in New York, NY, United States

1978, University of Michigan

"My style is difficult to label. It doesn’t come from any ‘school.’ In fact, I have never had an art class other than art history. I paint authentically and joyously. It is the one area of my life where I am free of the ‘inner critic.’ There is no ‘right’ way, only the way that flows out of me honestly and openly. It’s an ongoing process of surprise and discovery and one that continually enthralls me.

In addition to traditional paintings on canvas, I make works of art using a new printmaking process. Similar to the older traditional ateliers, I work hand in hand with a printmaker, who helps the artist to realize his or her vision. The artworks are created as very limited editions using archival inks and handmade watercolor papers. The process is known as a giclée print. A giclée print is produced on an IRIS digital printer, which sprays over 4 million individual droplets of ink per second to create the image."
