Claude Monet was asked the question, "Why do you paint?" To which Monet answered, "Why do birds sing?"
The pleasure of painting landscapes inspires me every time I pick up my brush. To capture an evocative mood in a memorable moment--in oil, watercolor, or acrylic--is not only a challenge, but a special opportunity to transform nature into a treasured reality.
I choose to paint simply and directly, accommodating the scene in either a large format (40" x 30"), a medium-sized picture (18" x 24"), or a modest-sized painting (10" x 6"). I avoid trivia.
