" The act of painting or creating works of art - for me - is an obsession, a need, a craving. I have only one person to please, myself. If I am pleased then I have been honest to my instincts and judgments which have developed through years of painting experience. If someone else enjoys my painting, then I am doubly rewarded.
I build on yesterdays painting experience and growth comes best when I can sustain a continuity of working day after day. I yearn for my work to convey pleasure and excitement thru paint action, rhythm, movement and color. Subject matter, if any, is only an excuse to build upon."

  • " My style lies somewhere between Impressionism and Expressionism - focus on Paint Action, Movement, Rhythm and Color.

The real work of Art is in the ACT or PROCESS of painting and creating, the final result is the painting which suggests that JOURNEY.

My style continues to evolve as I am always experimenting with various media (watercolor, acrylic, oils, collage and the print media of woodcuts, linotype, monotype, collographs, drypoint, carborundum. Sometimes I mix several of these media in one work to achieve the excitement I am looking for.""

  • " The process of creating is a "mind thing". Even when your world at times seems to be crumbling around you, you have this little corner of your mind to retreat to, to work on your next idea or possibility, to rest your soul. I believe it's a God-given gift."

    Priscilla Souder, July 1998
