"It is with great pleasure that I take the opportunity to express a few words about my watercolors.
Watercolor is a wonderful but exacting medium to work with. It is wonderful, but very demanding, and sometimes exhausting. One cannot be leisurely in working with watercolors. One cannot simply put down the brush and contemplate their next move. One must have a keen eye, a sure hand, and the ability to focus despite the rapidly changing work in progress. One must work quickly despite the certainty that mistakes are deadly and irreversible. Anyone who has every tried their hand with this medium can testify to this. One thing that is both the problem and joy of watercolors is water itself, that ever-changing, fickle force of nature. Yet, the nature of water is very much like the artist, fluid and ever-changing.
The subject of these watercolors, flowers and vegetation, is a means of expressing my deepest sensuality. It is no exaggeration to say that, for me, there is no greater or more powerful symbol of sensuality and beauty than the flower. It is not by pure chance that we give flowers to one another to express our deepest emotion. Yet, flowers, like the emotions that sometimes go with them, are evanescent and fleeting. In these watercolors, I have sought to capture some of those fleeting moments of beauty in the hope that this beauty may be enjoyed far longer than the life of a flower.
These large watercolor works give one the most profound sense of joy, harmony, and tranquility, and they inject beauty, light, and color into every environment."
